This is the M-43 parka, an early model of the field parka adopted by the US Armys elite mountain troops around the 1940s. The pile liner is designed to be worn as part of a layering system, and the outer shell has a fairly loose silhouette. It features drawstrings on the hood, hem and inside abdomen, and wooden fasteners. The fabric is a smooth cotton twill satin, which becomes soft and comfortable to the body over time and has a dull luster that gives it the texture unique to vintage items.
